BE the game!

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Being truly dedicated to a game shouldn’t mean dressing like the character in the game, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.  Time to become your favorite video game character!!

oh Pikmin, with your cute little bud/leaf/flower heads, go and fetch things for me!

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! The Metroid got me!  NOOOOO!!!!!

The Queen!!  These are some pretty sweet earmuffs.  Also, I want my hair to look like her’s!  I think I’m getting closer….

Ah Link, with your long hat that for no reason stands out straight behind you

Or you could be everyone’s favorite Itallian plumber!  It’s-a me! Mario!

Have a great New Year everyone!

Random!

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

I’ve been a busy girl lately (as most of you can understand) so there isn’t really a theme to today’s Weird Knitting Wednesday, except maybe “Things my friends have shown me for Weird Knitting”

crocheted pie hats!  there are a bunch of different “flavors” available. (Thanks Charlie!)

this is great!  my nose is always cold!  and the mustache reminds me of my dad’s! (Thanks Katie!)

these Wii Boxing baby gloves are geeky and adorable at the same time! (Thanks Jennifer!)

this scarf gives you a hug!  but it kind of reminds me of Shikamaru’s shadow bind no jutsu from Naruto (Shut Up! I warned you up front I’m a HUGE nerd!) (Thanks Oneika!)

SWEET GOD!!!! These children are being eaten by fish!!!!!!!  or totally cool hats, either way. (Thanks Jennifer!)

I hope you all have a great Holiday and a Merry Christmas!

Cthulhu

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

“Cthulhu is a fictional giant creature, one of the Great Old Ones in H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. It is often cited for the extreme descriptions given of its appearance, size, and the abject terror that it invokes.” – Wikipedia

But it’s just so darn cute when it’s made with Yarn!

All the cool babies will be sporting this Cthulhu bib this Spring.

This ski mask will keep all your face tentacles warm when you go down the slopes.

I have many friends who have this queued up to make for their kids, and rightfully so.

Let your nerd hang out with a Cthulhu dice bag.  Roll for Charisma… Fail.

Hello Kitty Cthulhu = Awesome!  I think one of my cats might be part Cthulhu….

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

I’m an equal opportunity geek, I like Star Wars and Star Trek.  I can’t neglect all the Weird Knitting associated with Star Wars after a Week of Star Trek!

Knit a light saber hilt, you know you need one to strap to your belt before seeing all your relatives at Christmas!

Yoda hat for your baby, this is.

I could never be patient enough to get my hair long enough for those Leia buns, and now I don’t have to be.

Boba!  What have the done to you!?  I think this is an incomplete project, but it looks like his severed head.

From the same creator of the Voyager Crew from last week

Ok, these are awesome!  The person who made them seems to no longer offer them in her Etsy shop.  This brings me great sadness.

Which movie out of the 6 (7 if you count the new animated one, and I know you don’t) is your fave?

Mine is the Holiday Special.  Happy Wookie Life Day to everyone!! :P

Awesome Toy!

Monday, December 8th, 2008

I ran across these on Boing Boing today

They are mad scientist alphabet blocks!

A complete list of the images represented by the letters is as follows:
A – Appendages
B – Bioengineering
C – Caffeine
D – Dirigible
E – Experiment
F – Freeze ray
G – Goggles
H – Henchmen
I – Invention
J – Jargon
K – Potassium
L – Laser
M – Maniacal
N – Nanotechnology
O – Organs
P – Peasants (with Pitchforks)
Q – Quantum physics
R – Robot
S – Self-experimentation
T – Tentacles
U – Underground Lair
V – Virus
W – Wrench
X – X-Ray
Y – You, the Mad Scientist of Tomorrow
Z – Zombies

I wish I hadn’t already gotten stuff for my friends kids (and I don’t really have $40 to spend on blocks, no matter how cool).  These do, in fact, rock my socks off.  I am literaly sock-less.

Do me a solid and buy them and then tell me how cool they are, I wish to enjoy these blocks through one of you.  Or, if you are feeling extra generous, you can buy them for me!  No?  It was worth a try

Happy Holidays!

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Now that we are past Thanksgiving I feel like I can be in the Christmas spirit, so for Weird Knitting Wednesday this week, we will have a Holiday theme!

Hopefully you wont have to replace any burnt out bulbs on this string of lights

Plumb Pudding hat!  It makes me want to eat…. well, not a plum pudding, but something holiday like

Christmas tree hat!  Make a Christmas tree out of your baby!  Hang ornaments on it too!  Choose your ornament hooks carefully though, kids are crafty

The obligatory Christmas Pickle ornament, now knit for less breaking

If you don’t have a tea cozy themed for every holiday, well, then what kind of person are you?!?!

I’m convinced that Jewish people either don’t knit enough or have more sense than those of us who celebrate Christmas, because it was way harder to find odd Hanukkah knitting, but this Menorah pillow will do!

Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made you out of yarn!  it’s hard to spin this dishcloth though…..  however it seems to have landed on Hey, which means I get half the candy in the pot.  w00t! (corrected, thanks to anne jewgirl!)
